We occupy a beautifully refurbished and spacious building on the grounds of The Presidio of San Francisco, just inside the 14th Avenue Gate at Lake Street. Our facility has an adjacent outdoor play area.

Directions To Lone Mountain Children's Center:

The link above gives directions to Lake Street and 14th Avenue. Once you reach 14th Avenue and Lake Street drive North on 14th Avenue into the Presidio. Take a Right at the first Stop sign onto Wedemeyer Street, then the next Left at Brown Street, and then the next Left at Hays Street, (adjacent to a large oval shaped field). Lone Mountain is to the Left of the field, the building has all glass on the lower level.

Welcome From The Director

Greetings and thank you for visiting the Lone Mountain Children’s Center website!  We are in the process of implementing some exciting changes at our school which will allow us to offer longer class days and additional learning opportunities in all three of our classes.  We have recently acquired a beautiful historic building adjacent to our current space in the Presidio.   The building is undergoing extensive renovation and we expect it to be ready for our use by next summer.  (A photo of the new building is below.) 

Our expanded campus will include nearly 8,000 square feet of classroom space and over 3,400 square feet of outdoor space.  Each of our three classes will offer longer school days beginning in September of 2013 as follows: 

            ▪ Tuesday-Thursday Class  (2.7 to 3.4 years)                        9:00 to 1:00

                        $8,000 per year 

            ▪ Monday-Wednesday-Friday Class (3.5 to 4.3 years)           9:00 to 1:30

                        $12,000 per year 

            ▪ Pre-Kindergarten Class  (4.4 to 5.3 years)                          8:30 to 2:00 (M - F)

                        $17,000 per year     (housed in the new building)

All three classes will now include a lunch period and the expanded hours will make possible additional indoor and outdoor activities.  For example, we hope to offer the Pre-Kindergarten students additional weekly classes led by outside teaching specialists such as science, nature, dance, yoga, gymnastics and pre-academics.  

Our core philosophy and instructional approach will remain the same, as will the size of our classes and the teacher-child ratio.  Our application process is also changing somewhat as it is now possible to download an application directly from our web site.
