Welcome to Lone Mountain Children’s Center
Founded in 1974 and nestled in an idyllic corner of the Presidio, Lone Mountain is an independent, non-profit preschool offering a three-year, developmental program rooted in project- and theme-based learning.
Our thoughtfully curated curriculum blends structured and play-based experiences, fostering connection, creativity, and independence. Classes regularly break into small groups for learning and exploration, allowing teachers to support each child’s unique growth. Children spend at least one-third of their day outdoors in our expansive playground and tree-lined field, deepening their connection to nature and supporting physical and social development.
With a long-tenured, dedicated teaching staff and a strong sense of community, Lone Mountain is a place where childhood is honored, families are valued, and the joy of learning is celebrated.
