The Pre-Kindergarten Program

Meets all weekdays from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm

Age in September: 4 yrs 5 mos to 5 yrs 4 mos

The Pre-K Program is a transitional blend of both preschool and traditional kindergarten elements. Building on the previous two levels, it offers a more in-depth exploration of thematic units such as community, emotions, health and safety, human anatomy, astronomy, the solar system, the origins of life on earth, and the traditions and holidays of various cultures. A robust music and creative movement curriculum is also included, featuring singing, dancing, and performance opportunities.

Pre-K students develop a strong academic foundation through engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction in pre-reading, writing, early math, and science. They also participate in weekly martial arts and Playball classes, and take regular exploratory walks through the surrounding neighborhood and the Presidio, fostering curiosity and a connection to the world around them.

LMCC After School Enrichment Class

Students in the Pre-K class have the option to enroll in additional after school enrichment classes on Wednesdays until 4:15pm.  Teachers from the entire school lead multi- week class series with themes such as “Art Through the Ages, ” “Storytelling” and “Outdoor Art in the Presidio.”

Children gathered around a display board titled 'Photographs Inspired by Cindy Sherman' with pictures of children in costumes, each labeled with names such as 'Sareena,' 'Tommy,' 'Stella,' and 'Matias.' One child is pointing at the board.

Kindergarten Readiness

Our pre-academic curriculum ensures that students are exceptionally well-prepared for kindergarten, including admissions assessments. Teachers thoughtfully support this transition by discussing what to expect, helping children feel emotionally ready, confident, and excited for the next step in their education.
