Camp Sessions

  • 1A CAMPING & WILDLIFE IN THE PRESIDIO During this week we will experience what it would be like to camp out in the Presidio! We’ll play in tents, eat camp foods like s’mores, and learn about some of the animals who make this national park their home including raccoons, gophers, coyotes, and hawks. Our week will conclude with a “camp out” on the field across from our campus.

1B MOVE IT - MOVE IT! This camp will focus on moving our bodies in fun dynamic ways each day, exploring dance, sports, obstacle courses, relay races and yoga. We’ll spend plenty of time outdoors along with working on projects like team jerseys and dancing ribbons. Come move with us!

  • 2A MYTH-BUSTERS SCIENCE This week, we will become scientists engaging in fun, hands-on experimentation. Children will practice forming their own hypotheses around ideas big and small and get their hands messy along the way! Some of the topics to be explored include gravity, magnets, states of matter, and the science behind cooking.

2B THE ENCHANTED FOREST You never know what you may find when you adventure into the Enchanted Forest: talking trees, fairies, elves, unicorns, goblins, monsters, magic...anything is possible. During this camp we’ll make fairy houses, magic wands, mysterious potions and play with light and shadow. Adventure awaits as we explore woodland creatures, both real and fantasy!

  • 3A COOKING THROUGH SAN FRANCISCO Get ready to experience the culinary wonders of San Francisco! Take a trip through our city and explore some of its famous neighborhoods, including Chinatown, North Beach, Japantown, the Mission, and Fisherman’s Wharf. Each day, we will learn about foods unique to these areas and make our own delicious lunches inspired by each one. (No need to send lunches this week.)

3B LET’S MAKE ART! In this camp we will explore a different art medium each day. We’ll make sculptures with clay, cardboard and tape; paint with watercolors and acrylics; create group murals; and collage with found and natural materials. We will learn about a few famous artists and use some of their work as inspiration for our projects. We’ll introduce different techniques within each medium, while also allowing for lots of creative freedom! Remember to dress like an artist this week, as our projects will be messy!

  • 4A VENOMOUS ANIMALS What do Brazilian wandering spiders, box jellyfish and inland taipan snakes all have in common? These creatures possess some of the most toxic venom in the world! In this camp we will learn all about these and many other venomous and poisonous creatures. We will take a close look at the habitats, physical characteristics, prey and behaviors of these animals, insects, and arachnids. We’ll offer art projects, music, games to learn about these fascinating and deadly creatures.

4B PIRATES, MERMAIDS & ADVENTURES ON THE SEA Ahoy Mateys! Get ready to learn all about pirates, both fictional and real. Campers will pick pirate names and make all the things any good pirate requires: a treasure map, treasure chest, pirate hat, and eye patch. We will read pirate stories, “walk the plank” during a pirate themed obstacle course, and sing some sea shanties. The week will wrap up with a sea-themed celebration including a special ocean snack and dance party!

  • 5A MYTHS, MONSTERS AND THE HERO’S JOURNEY From Hydras to fox spirits, dragons and krakens, this camp explores the fascinating world of monsters and myths. We will discuss what makes a hero, and why people have found monsters so compelling throughout the ages. Storytelling, music, movement and art projects will all come together this week culminating in a final activity where the children will create a monster or hero of their own. Join us on this exciting hero’s journey.

5B SPACE EXPLORATION Blast off to space with us as we learn about the planets in our solar system, space travel, stars and even aliens. We will paint a collaborative solar system, make star sensory bottles, and even get to watch a rocket launch! Join us as we learn about how astronauts survive in space and the future of space travel.

  • 6A EXPLORING THE OCEAN Ever wonder what lives in the vast oceans of the world? With the ocean being so near, San Francisco is the perfect place to learn about our neighbors under the sea! We will explore the vast ecosystems and create colorful art projects using a variety of materials. Get ready for some deep sea discovery!

6B COOKING FROM AROUND THE WORLD This week we will become world travelers through cuisine! Each day will focus on a different country with campers learning a bit about its culture, language and traditional foods. The children will be actively involved in preparing their own lunches. This will be a fun week for all your budding chefs to try their hand at cooking, as well provide an opportunity to test out new foods. (No need to send lunches this week.)
